[2] Why did God create the angels? Why did he create the universe? Why did he create us?

These questions are obviously very deep, and the answers are very hard to derive from the scriptures. But once they have been derived, the answers are very simple. Even if the reader finds this section hard going, the conclusions are easy to digest.

What are the angels like?

Please peruse the following scriptures to get the flavour of what our brothers the angels are like and what they are doing for us and against us.

6 But a certain witness has given proof somewhere, saying: What is man that you keep him in mind, or [the] son of man that you take care of him?
7 You made him a little lower than angels; with glory and honour you crowned him, and appointed him over the works of your hands (Hebrews 2).

1 Now it came to be the day when the sons of the [true] God entered to take their station before Jehovah, and even Satan
proceeded to enter right among them.
2 Then Jehovah said to Satan: Where do you come from? At that Satan answered Jehovah and said: From roving about in the earth and from walking about in it.
3 And Jehovah went on to say to Satan: Have you set your heart upon my servant Job, that there is no one like him in the earth, a man blameless and upright, fearing God and turning aside from bad? Even yet he is holding fast his integrity, although you incite me against him to swallow him up without cause.
4 But Satan answered Jehovah and said: "Skin in behalf of skin, and everything that a man has he will give in behalf of his soul.
5 For a change, thrust out your hand, please, and touch as far as his bone and his flesh [and see] whether he will not curse you to your very face.
6 Accordingly Jehovah said to Satan: There he is in your hand! Only watch out for his soul itself! (Job 2).

7 Also, with reference to the angels he says: And he makes his angels spirits, and his public servant a flame of fire (Hebrews 1).

53 Or do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father to supply me at this moment more than 12 legions of angels? (Matthew 26).

7 And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels battled with the dragon, and the dragon and its angels battled (Revelation 12).

35 And it came about on that night that the angel of Jehovah proceeded to go out and strike down 185,000 in the camp of the Assyrians. When people rose up early in the morning, why, there all of them were dead carcasses (2 Kings 19).

The scriptures above show that there are some spirit creatures trying to damage us and others trying to help us. These two groups are fighting each other over us. The ones trying to ruin us are the demons and are led by Satan. The ones trying to help us are the angels who are lead by Michael. Popular mythology and many Hollywood blockbusters are built upon this invisible spiritual reality. The reader may not yet understand that the vast majority of angels, rather like the vast majority of mankind, are neither super righteous nor super wicked, but are somewhere in between. The scriptural evidence for this is somewhat symbolic...

40 And there are heavenly bodies, and earthly bodies; but the glory of the heavenly bodies is one sort, and that of the earthly bodies is a different sort.
41 The glory of the sun [Jesus] is one sort, and the glory of the moon [Satan] is another, and the glory of the stars [the angels] is another; in fact, star differs from star in glory (1 Corinthians 15).

And most stars are not even visible to the naked eye!

7 Also, with reference to the angels he says: And he makes his angels spirits, and his public servants a flame of fire (Hebrews 1).

Not all angels have this job of being public servants, some of them are merely 'spirits'. One cannot serve God as an angel without being holy, and those in the holy spirit must serve. So it appears that not all angels are holy. These non public service non holy angels are not demons however, they still worship God for the scripture says.

11 And all the angels were standing around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell upon their faces before the throne and worshipped God (Revelation 7).

The demons are those of the angels which have possessed humans satanically.

The Big Bang

Scientifically, what is it? As the reader will see, LW understandings fit very well with modern science.

The first thing to understand is that at the time of the Big Bang, which was the creation of the universe, space and time took the form that we are now familiar with. In scientific terms, space-time came into existence. God did not invent space and time, as we presently know them, separately. He invented forward only time and space together at the Big Bang, when he said (through Lucifer actually - Lux, Lucem, Fero, Ferre. Tuli, Latum): Let there be light. Modern physics indicates this. But the bible declares it in the first few verses of Genesis 1. Genesis 1 has a literal meaning (which is fairly symbolic) and it has what we call a Word Symbolic meaning. This second meaning is a part of the bible code and we will not go into it much here. We will just use it to show that the angels pre-existed the Big Bang.

1 In [the] beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2 Now the earth proved to be formless and waste and there was darkness upon the faces of [the] watery deep; and God's spirit was moving to and fro over the faces of the waters.
3 And God proceeded to say: Let light come to be. Then there came to be light.
4 After that God saw that the light was good, and God brought about a division between the light and the darkness.
5 And God began calling the light Day, but the darkness he called Night. And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, a first day (Genesis 1).

The Hebrew day runs from evening to evening. So the day starts in the evening and then has the morning. The days of Genesis 1 are not 24 hour days, they are not days defined by the rotation of the earth, they are creative days, epochs of many years in duration. The question that is begging to be asked above is how could God have invented light after he invented the earth? We know from physics that light existed at the Big Bang, before the earth was created. The answer is that he invented a new type of light half way through the first creative day, and this type of light replaced the type of light that was created by the Big Bang. This new light defined the 'morning' of that 'day'. In fact God changed the speed of light half way through the first creative day. The bible says explicitly that God invented a new light in each creative day as follows...

5 And God began calling the light, day (Genesis 1).

In other words for 'day' read 'light'. But then we read:

5 And there came to be evening and there came to be morning a first day
8 And there came to be evening and there came to be morning a second day
13 And there came to be evening and there came to be morning a third day
19 And there came to be evening and there came to be morning a fourth day
23 And there came to be evening and there came to be morning a fifth day
31 And there came to be evening and there came to be morning a sixth day

But God by his earlier admission is calling light 'day', so in fact, what was happening was:

5 And there came to be evening and there came to be morning a first light
8 And there came to be evening and there came to be morning a second light
13 And there came to be evening and there came to be morning a third light
19 And there came to be evening and there came to be morning a fourth light
23 And there came to be evening and there came to be morning a fifth light
31 And there came to be evening and there came to be morning a sixth light

The light defines the morning in each day but God calls the light, day, because the new light reveals the creations of the new day and defines it. The scripture does not say there came to be evening a first light (day), it says there came to be morning a first light (day). The new light then waxes and wanes over the subsequent morning and evening until the next light appears in the next day. The light of the first day, that appeared in the morning, was not the first light ever to appear, it was the new light that appeared in that first day. The various different lights are in fact various different speeds of light. There are scientific theories that require the speed of light to have changed in order for the universe to be stable. And of course the present value of the speed of light prevents us from leaving our solar system and screwing up the entire galaxy. At the time of the Big Bang, light was 360,000 times faster than it is today - see U234. And light will return to being that speed in the future, once we have learned how to behave. The significance of these different speeds of light is that the age of the universe is not 11-15 billion years old as presently measured by the time it takes light to get to us from the furthest away stars. It is in fact only around 100,000 years old, since the speed of light has been a lot faster in the past. The significance of this is that God has not sat around doing nothing for billions of years and then gone crazy in activity in the last few thousand. He was been really busy for all of the last 100,000 years. We have covered this ground here to fully explain the statement: Let there be light, in the literal meaning of Genesis 1.

The Symbolic Meaning of Genesis 1

The above covers only the literal meaning of Genesis 1 (which is a highly symbolic literal meaning). There is also a symbolic meaning to Genesis 1 which we are not going fully to explain here, we will just state it.

We can show by employing the bible code, that initially there was God and no one else. Then God created the spiritual realm, angelic (dark matter) time and the angels. Then God created space-time with the Big Bang and he created physical light and he made time unidirectional and causal (we are not sure how true that was prior to the Big Bang). Then he created the humans.

The first line of Genesis says...

1 In [the] beginning God created the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1).

The literal meaning of the chapter is the creation of the earth and of the physical universe, the physical heavens if you like. The symbolic meaning is the creation of heaven, not the heaven of the physical universe, but the heaven in which the angels dwell. This heaven is the spiritual universe.

The earth in the symbolic meaning stands for God's heavenly administration. The waters are all the angels.

1 Praise Jah, You people! Praise Jehovah from the heavens,
Praise him in the heights.
2
Praise him, all you his angels.
Praise him, all you his army.
3 Praise him, you sun and moon.
Praise him, all you stars of light.
4 Praise him, you heavens of the heavens,
And you waters that are above the heavens.
5 Let them praise the name of Jehovah;
For he himself commanded, and they were created (Psalms 148).

The heavens are the spiritual realm. God's spirit is the group of holy angels that are loyal to God. But there was a time that only Satan fell into this category. This time was at the beginning of the enactment of divine law. Light is divine law - see U300

Science theorises a 'Big Bang' which started off the universe. The bible, on the other hand, refers to God saying: Let there be light...

2 Now the earth proved to be formless and waste and there was darkness upon the faces of [the] watery deep; and God's spirit [Lucifer] was [@x;r"] moving/brooding/trembling over the faces of the waters.
3 And God proceeded to say: Let there be light. Then there came to be light.

Gesenius has:: @x;r"  [“pr. to be soft”], to be moved, affected (cognate. to ~x;r"), specially—(a) with the feeling of tender love, hence to cherish, see Piel.
(b) with fear, tremor, hence to tremble (spoken of the bones of a person terrified), Jeremiah. 23:9.

Piel
, to brood over young ones, to cherish young (as an eagle), Deut. 32:11; figuratively used of the Spirit of God, who brooded over the shapeless mass of the earth, cherishing and vivifying. Of far more frequent use is the Syrian, which is used of birds brooding over their young, Ephr. ii. p. 552; of parents who cherish their children, Ephr. ii. p. 419; of Elisha cherishing the body of the dead child, Ephr. i. p. 529; also of a voice descending from heaven. The Arabs use in the same sense the verb رخم I. IV. to brood on eggs (as a hen); to soothe a child (as a mother), Gen. 1:2.

So the first Holy Spirit of God, which was actually run by Lucifer (Lux, lucem, fero, ferere, lati, latum , bringer of light), was brooding over the waters on the earth, prepared them for birth in the planetary meaning of Genesis1 - for more on all the meanings of Genesis1 please see U300.

So the statement: Let there be light was the origin of space time (which science theorises was the 'Big Bang'). The Big Bang (which we use colloquially to mean the origin of space time) was when our unidirectional causal space time came into existence as the wake of light. So the Big Bang was when physical light also came into existence. So Ucifer, who became Satan when he fell, actually brought both divine law (angelic illumination) and physical light, into existence on behalf of God at the Big Bang. God was using the physical creation of light to demonstrate physically to the angels the spiritual effect of divine angelic law (the law of angelic Moses if you will).

So just as physical light illuminated the light matter in the universe so angelic law indelibly illuminated sin.

So Angels came before the Big Bang. Physical light travels at a pre-defined speed independent of the dynamic status of any observer (as Einstein discovered). So light is a measure of time. Actually light is God's galactic clock. Light measures time. Light defines time in space-time. The division between day and night is the division between the physical and the spiritual realms. We live in the light matter universe. The angels live in the dark matter universe.

We have investigated the things above because we need to know in crude terms what God did before we can attempt to answer the question why he did it!

God was by himself before he created anything

God began (if that is the right word) all by himself. He had no helper as a complement for him. He therefore created the angels. Then, after he created Adam, God realised that his human creation had the same problem that he had had in the first place.

18 And Jehovah God went on to say: It is not good for the man to continue by himself. I am going to make a helper for him, as a complement of him. (Genesis 2).

It is important to understand that in this state of solitude God invented love. We can only theorize as to how he did this. But presumably he created something which he became attached to and realized that this was the most important thing that he had created. He then created a whole universe which is run essentially according to 3 laws which are:

1. We must love God
2. We must love each other
3. We must have a set of laws which enable the above two loves to flourish in our society.

So because he wanted to love and to be loved, he wished to procreate, and that is why he created the angels as helpers and as a compliment for him. God certainly created in us the capability to love and he certainly loves us. The angels are made in his image just as we are so they too have the capability to love and God loves them.

He then created space-time in order to show up angelic sin initially. Angels have characters just as we do and just as God does. They interact with each other out of free will just as we do.

7 You made him a little lower than angels; with glory and honour you crowned him, and appointed him over the works of your hands (Hebrews 2).

26 And God went on to say: Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness, and let them have in subjection the fish of the sea and the flying creatures of the heavens and the domestic animals and all the earth and every moving animal that is moving upon the earth (Genesis 1).

So we are made in their image only a little lower in powers and in experience. But we are not made any lower in love. So they can be unjust to each other and they can sin against each other and against God just as we do. The pre big bang universe was the nursery school for the angels. God needed to freeze their mistakes in time, in order that they would recognise them and repent from them and learn from them. This is why he made time unidirectional, for otherwise all the angels would be having groundhog days with their sins.

Angels are restricted by time but not by space (we suppose) - since Jesus could walk on water and through closed doors. Time is how angels are held accountable.
God is restricted by neither space nor time.
Humans are restricted by space and time.

However, having created the angels with free will, some of them chose to leave God's administration and formed a rebellion. This rebellion was NOT initially headed up by Satan, who was the well behaved son in the parable of the prodigal son - see U914. Satan, being the firstborn angel, was God's CEO, God's high priest, the head of the first Holy Spirit, God's first wife. Satan was the firstborn angel and he originally had the rights of the firstborn which are to run God's administration for him - see Intro19

The trouble that the bad angels had was that they could not clearly see how dangerous their abandonment of God's laws was because they were immortal and indestructible physically and therefore immune to any 'real' consequences of their sin from a physical perspective (of course they were susceptible to punishment from God - all law carries within it some form of punishment). If an angel is denied spiritual food he does not die of hunger. If he is denied emotional healthcare he does not become physically ill, if he is attacked he does not get injured or die.

God created humans to physicalise the effects of sin. We are the full body scanner for angelic sin. We are a diagnostic tool for God.

9 For it seems to me that God has put us the apostles last on exhibition as men appointed to death, because we have become a theatrical spectacle to the world, and to angels, and to men (1 Corinthians 4).

We are created fragile so that we learn how important it is to love one another. The angels, who were created immortal, did not properly learn that lesson without us. As Paul said...

10 Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in insults, in cases of need, in persecutions and difficulties, for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am powerful (2 Corinthians 12).

Millions of starving and dying Africans show categorically that the greed of the few is the hunger of the many. Cancer shows categorically that corruption is ultimately terminal if left unchecked as do several countries in the Continent of Africa presently. The grand finale of our diagnostic extravaganza is that we actually put in place our own annihilation and would wipe ourselves out were it not for God stepping in. In this way we demonstrate categorically, tragically and spectacularly that all sin is ultimately terminal. We demonstrate conclusively that stopping sinning is necessary to ensure survival. The theory of evolution postulates the survival of the fittest. But in truth it is the survival of the sinless that describes our only future. All of this pain that we suffer is of benefit to us even more than it is of benefit to the angels who watch us. We will reach true love a lot faster than many of them, due to our increased suffering, even though we were born second.

For God's laws are simply the minimum set of rules which ensure the continued existence of a society.

But as God himself discovered when he was all alone, when he was simulating possible futures, existence is fairly meaningless without love. To live is to love. An indefinite existence without love is not what God wanted. In fact an indefinite existence without love may not even be possible. And true love is impossible without free will. Because love is a choice.

So God's laws are also the minimum set of rules for a society which enable love to flourish.

To sum it all up. God wanted to create a community of free willed people who had learned from others what he had learned for himself about love. He wanted a child like himself. He wanted to procreate. The whole universe is a nursery for that child and it is the forum for his love and for our love. But he could not just leave his kids all alone to learn love for themselves as he had to, because that would be denying his love to his children. So he teaches us love personally. In other words God taught himself love, but we are taught love by our parents. In fact this is what being a parent is all about.

The end result is that God can love various free willed beings and be loved by those beings to the same extent that he loves them. They will be able to and will choose to love him with the same level of love that he has for them. We will be equals with God and with Christ in love, but they will still be our spiritual parents and our Gods. Jesus Christ has attained that level of love and is now a God just like Jehovah. Our destiny is to follow him to divinity which is perfect love. Of course all of these free willed beings will love each other with this level of love as well. For it is God's purpose to love all of his children and for them to learn true love. This type of love is defined by God through Paul as follows...

1 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels but do not have love, I have become a sounding brass or a clashing cymbal.
2 And if I have the gift of prophesying and am acquainted with all the sacred secrets and all knowledge, and if I have all the faith so as to transplant mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
3 And if I give all my belongings to feed others, and if I hand over my body, that I may boast, but do not have love, I am not profited at all.
4 Love is long-suffering and kind. Love is not jealous, it does not brag, does not get puffed up,
5 does not behave indecently, does not look for its own interests, does not become provoked. It does not keep account of the injury.
6 It does not rejoice over unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth.
7 It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8 Love never fails (1 Corinthians 13).

Imagine the most loving moment that you ever experienced in your life. Now imagine feeling that all the time for everyone and imagine knowing that everyone feels that all the time for you. Now tell us if that is a future worth fighting for? (metaphorically of course)
